Canagrosa bets on the future of defense

The last week, our colleague José Pérez Ferreira, head of business development, attended the second edition of the Defense Challenges Forum, held in Cordoba, under the slogan “Face to face with the industry”. A top-level meeting, which brought together the main institutional, business and strategic voices of the sector to discuss the present and future of defense in Spain.

Organized by El Confidencial, the forum was sponsored by the City Council of Córdoba, the Junta de Andalucía, Indra, Telefónica, Grupo Oesía, GMV, Hisdesat and EM&E, with the collaboration of Hispasat and the support of Indie.

In a context of profound transformation for Spain and Europe, marked by an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, the event tackled the industry's main challenges: budget stability, technological innovation, international cooperation and operational challenges for the armed forces. “In this new scenario, Europe has to take action on its defense independence, raising the dedicated budget to possibly 3.5% of GDP”, said José Pérez Ferreira.

This paradigm shift would mean an increase of more than 30,000 million euros in Spain's defense budget. This figure represents an important challenge for the Spanish industrial fabric, both in terms of responding to domestic demand and strengthening its international projection.

New alliances for Canagrosa

Attending the forum has been a valuable opportunity to learn first-hand about the sector's priorities, identify trends and reinforce our strategic vision.

The meeting has also allowed us to strengthen relationships with companies in the ecosystem, whose lines of development could benefit from our experience as a reference laboratory for the aerospace and defense industry, as well as to explore future synergies.

In addition, we shared impressions with other companies and customers in the sector, confirming the value of this type of spaces as drivers of opportunities and industrial collaboration. “We are at a time when new needs will arise, and with them, opportunities to innovate, diversify and incorporate services that complement our current offer,” said Pérez Ferreira.

Defense is a strategic sector that requires cutting-edge technology, commitment and precision, and this is where our experience can contribute to the success of each mission.
